Trying to change lives

Oh don't worry I don't mean I'm trying to change lives. I'm not qualified for such a big responsibility, yet if i was able to I'd probably change lives in the worst possible way. So no worries.

Now, since that line of thought is stricken from your mind let me explain the true intention of this post. My previous post was kinda gloomy (positive/negative/gratitude blablabla talking like I know s**t) and I thought I'd add another just to show that I'm not heartless in the least.
So I was on the net and stumbled upon a website Generasi Gemilang. Some of you may have heard about Generasi Gemilang and maybe some of you like me are only hearing/read about this website only now. Generasi Gemilang is not just a website it is a non-profit organization. So since I can't help in the physical manner I thought I'd help by sharing.

This is a corporate profile snippet from their website :

"Persatuan Kebajikan Generasi Gemilang Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor, or Generasi Gemilang (GG) in short, is a not-for-profit welfare organisation committed to building a strong nation by raising exemplary next-generation and strengthening families. We believe that Love transforms lives; therefore our work inspires hope in people and empowers them to live life to their fullest potential. These people are children, youth, families, schools, corporations and community at large. Governed by a Board of Directors, GG is based in the Klang Valley and conducts services throughout Malaysia."

I googled "not-for-profit organizations in Malaysia" and only IM4U came out. Now I've heard of IM4U (I know your probably thinking "This chick knows s**t", well yeah naive that way. honesty right) but I'm more focused on this organization so let's just stick to this one.

So reading through the contents of the website(I read the "Who We Are","What We Do" and "Stories"),what Generasi Gemilang is trying to achieve is admirable and what they have already achieved is impressive. I mean they just started out in 2010 and according to the website they have already helped 25,000 lives and I'm betting that's a big number; who knows when the website was last updated. Click here if you want to find out more yourself.

They have a really good and broad programmes categorized into 3 (Community Development, Youth Development and Counselling & Care) and even in those three are more specific programmes like Family Services, Kids & Teen Services, Life Skills and Cyber Wellness to name a few. I saw the listings and I was already impressed because Family Services, Kids & Teen Services is jst something I believe in and something I think should be more important in the eyes of the public. I mean year after year, day after day, we hear reports of child abuse and parents killing their own flesh and blood or the other way round. Ugh. Gruesome. See we need these types of services available 24/7. Plant some "humanity seeds" into the brains of some of these people. Well now I'm just ranting.

Anyhoo, they have a video on youtube titled, "Generasi Gemilang -- Our Story So Far". Youtube video here if you want to go straight to youtube or just watch the video below.

Thought I'd add some pictures. :) Just some snapshots from the website.

"Learning the Importance of Love"

"Instilling Balance Online, Offline"

"Portraying Positive Influence"

"Making a Difference to Young Lives"

Well that's it. Sharing is caring you know?

till next time :)
